SP1 KDA & KVBM joint session : Overcoming diabetic vascular diseases |
15:00~17:00 / Thursday 6 October Convention Hall B, 4F Chairman:Jaetaek Kim, Hyuk-Sang Kwon |
Overview |
---|---|---|
Vascular diseases associated with diabetes are the leading cause of multi-organ damage, including renal failure, blindness, a variety of neuropathies, and atherosclerosis, and account for disabilities and high mortality rates in patients with diabetes. This joint session in collaboration with the Korean Society for Vascular Biology and Medicine (KVBM) will provide novel perspectives to overcome vascular complications by dissecting cellular dysfunction and molecular pathogenesis in cardio- and cerebral-vascular diseases. | ||

SP1-4 Cerebrovascular recovery mechanism via neurovascular signaling |
SP2 Basic research hot topic session : Single technology for metabolism study |
15:00~17:00 / Thursday 6 October Emerald Hall B, 3F Chairman:Jongsoon Lee, Minho Shong |

Rapid progress in developing next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies has provided valuable insights into complex biological systems in metabolic diseases. NGS-based technologies for genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics are now mainly focused on the characterization of individual cells. These single-cell analyses will allow clinicians and researchers to reveal new and potentially unexpected biological discoveries in disease progression. For example, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) can uncover complex and rare cell populations, discover regulatory relationships between genes, and track the trajectories of distinct cell lineages in development and diseases. In this section, four speakers will discuss the relative strengths and weaknesses of various scRNA-seq technologies and the roles of multiple cells in disease progression and development. | ||

SP3 KDA & KRS joint session : Past, present, and future collaborations for diabetic retinopathy |
16:00~18:00 / Friday 7 October Convention Hall C, 4F Chairman:Kyu Chang Won, June-Gone Kim |
Overview |
---|---|---|
Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of vision loss and is the most affected complication of glycemic control. Effective management through closer cooperation between diabetologists and retinal specialists is required to prevent blindness in diabetic patients. This joint session between Korean Retina Society and Korean Diabetes Association will review the updated evidence on the treatment and pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy and discuss how to improve the management of diabetic retinopathy. | ||
